Studying in illustration in RCA, Simon Dara is not interested in the illustration within the commercial framework and concentrates his researches on the creation of his own economy based on a favorable environment in which the intermediaries (illustrators, printers…) would be joined together in only one entity.
Its installation is an artistic collaboration with an artist (sculpture) and a sound designer.
The principle: the sound affects the drawings which affect the sculpture which affects the sound.
The title of the show, “Work in Progress”, literally apprehended here since the process of evolutionary self publishing proceeds during the exhibition. The synthetic images, like a visual alphabet, build a narrative system. This development of visual and sculptural soundtrack would not have been possible in an other context.
Simon is an illustrator more interested by the systems of the designers, more than the llustration systemes. Its research tends towards the development of a horizontal system where he controls all.
