Tolerance Strikes Back

Tolerance Strikes Back
Geert Wilders’ New Ideology – 2010
Pinar Demirdag and Viola Renate

Pinar Demirdag and Viola Renate are graphic designers. They draw inspiration from reacting to the prevalent social values of the day.
The video, Geert Wilders’ New Ideology – 2010, their latest work, shown in the gallery, has a central role in the installation, which recalls a stage where an essential speech is giving.
Being graphic designers, currently working and living in the Netherlands, they came to a point where it was time to react on the populist politics using their own tools.
Pinar Demirdag & Viola Renate are making a statement on Wilders’ politics by narrowing the gap between ‘us’ and ‘them’.
Without demonizing him, they use Wilders as a stooge in order to tell a constructive message with a larger importance. The importance of welcoming, embracing and tolerance.
