Robert Ashley Speaking Thru Will Holder
Scrivener’s Monthly explores the space between material practices and spoken words: a periodical that talks. This experiment in “not publishing” will involve readings, performances, and other articulations.
For the first iteration, Will Holder will host a series of events related to the work of contemporary American composer Robert Ashley.
Will Holder is a British typographer who edits and publishes. His publications do not always take the form of ink and paper, but are often talks, presentations, readings, or rehearsals. With composer Alex Waterman, he has been developing a notational system for Robert Ashley’s last three untranscribed operas. Since 2005, they have been scoring Yes, But Is It Edible?, a biography of Robert Ashley, for four or more voices. Forthcoming, 2013.
