Bookshop und freut sich, in diesem Format die Publikationen des Leipziger
Verlages Spector Books zu zeigen, insbsondere das Buch “A-Z/ A=A
(s. Identität)” von Lina Grumm, welches ebenda erschienen ist.

A-Z/ A=A (s. Identität) kreist um Bilder als Denkfiguren, die Theorien
transportieren und Begriffsfelder konstruieren. 136 Bildtafeln versammeln
Motive verschiedenartiger Herkunft zu Konstellationen, die auf Momente
von Wiederholung, Assoziation, Vergleich, Repräsentation und Referenz
bauen und die die Wandelbarkeit der Lesart eines einzelnen Bildes in
Abhängigkeit von seinem jeweiligen Kontext demonstrieren. Gegliedert wird
das Buch durch 180 Begriffe, die am Kopf jeder Seite stehen und die auf
separaten alphabetisch geordneten Seiten erläutert werden. Die Begriffe
werden nicht allgemeingültig definiert – vielmehr wird der Versuch
unternommen, die Begriffe durch die Kombination einzelner möglicher
Bedeutungsaspekte neu zu konzipieren.
Die Autorin ist anwesend, im Hintergrund spielt der “A-Z Soundtrack”,
Getränke werden ausgeschenkt und weitere Publikationen von Spector Books
sind zum anschauen und kaufen ausgelegt.

Dexter Sinister – True Mirror Microfiche
Dexter Sinister presents True Mirror Microfiche, an evening of readings and performances in the form of a projected microfiche lecture. A continuation of their recent project for the 2008 Whitney Biennial (True Mirror, 2008), the performance is presnted in conjunction with their new publication, DOT DOT DOT #16 (A W.A.S.T.E of ink (After Thomas Pynchon)). Recntly described as “pamphleteers”, dexter Sinister operates a workshop in a basement on the Lower East Side, intended to model a “Just-in-Tim” economy of print production, running counter to the contemporary assembly-line realities of large-scale publishing. their creative practice considers alternate distribution strategies and collapses distinctions of editing, design, production, and distribution into one efficient activity.

The leading idea of the show emphasises the fact that artists tastes in music are always strongly related to their work. Each artist has been asked to design the poster for the concert of his or her dream, including the line-up of choice and in any venue imaginable whether existing or not.

Dans une approche interdisciplinaire, l’objectif de la revue 2.0.1 est de réunir des études concernant autant les arts plastiques, que l’architecture, le design ou les théories de l’art, du XIXe au XXIe siècle.
Ainsi, elle souhaite être un lieu de collaboration entre étudiants, jeunes chercheurs et jeunes professionnels issus de différentes filières des sciences humaines et sociales et partageant des axes de recherche en commun tout en travaillant dans des structures institutionnelles qui restent souvent hermétiques les unes aux autres …
Variant à l’occasion de chaque parution, l’apparence de 2.0.1 emprunte la maquette d’un imprimé déjà existant. Choisi en fonction du thème du numéro, la reproduction fidèle de cet imprimé de base — depuis l’apparence générale jusqu’au détail — affirme et révèle les thématiques de 2.0.1 par le support lui-même.
Le premier numéro, de par son sujet “Contraintes” et son besoin de faire autorité, revêt un aspect scientifique et austère grâce au détournement de la Revue historique de droit français et étranger (4e série – 19–20es années, 1940–1941, n° 1–2, édition Sirey).

JOST HOCHULI: SYSTEMATIC BOOK DESIGN?
Jost Hochuli: Systematic book design?
Systematic book design thus means: book design that follows a plan fixed before the work begins. A conscious, rational procedure sooner or later reaches an end: the unconscious – or that which is a matter of feeling – plays a large and often decisive role in design. Using examples from some of his own works, Jost Hochuli, Swiss typographer and graphic designer, will try to show where the irrational has resolved rational decisons.
