Each of the sixteen students at MFA Graphic Design Program at Yale School of Art gave a presentation of their thesis topic on September 2008. To reinterpret everyone else’s thesis topic to mine, E Roon Kang set up a blog using WordPress, parsed those scripts into smallest unit, so that one can rearrange them and find out interesting combination of units for their own purposes. Since it was all done in pre-existing platforms, there was certain amount of inefficiency involved and revealed during production.

There are 10,060 frames of video in Michael Jackson’s 5 min 34 sec nationally televised landmark performance of Billy Jean. The White Glove Tracking project (W.G.T.) is an effort to isolate just the white glove from this moment in pop-culture history. Rather then write unnecessarily complex code to find the glove in every frame of the video I am asking for the assistance of 10,060 individual internet users to simply click and drag a box around the glove in one frame. In the end this data will be shared freely for all to download, visualize, and use as an input into other digital systems.

Some of these series loosely relate to each other via a third element: geometrical shapes abstracted from the images, computer-edited, and overprinted on the originals. The disparate image stocks become intertwined and open on one another. Having transcended any thematic organization, the loose pages now have the potential to amalgamate into an infinite number of new books. In so doing, they yield a library that defies conventional categorization.”
